Tommaso Pala outlines some of the new provisions introduced by Law no. 70/2026, entered into force on May 10, 2026: the provision to establish — by a decree of the President of the Republic (following a resolution by the Council of Ministers) - a "contiguous zone" adjacent to the territorial sea (Chapter 2 – Articles 3 to 7); regulations governing recreational underwater activities (Chapter 3 – Articles 8 to 15); amendments to certain provisions of the Pleasure Boats Code, including the introduction of two new contract types designed to align the charter sector to European practices (Chapter 4 – Articles 16 to 20); and the introduction of measures to support the shipbuilding industry (Chapter 5 – Article 24)
