Case history

Our Law Firm has handled several cases which have been landmark cases in the history of shipping casualties, among which, 
- the hijacking of the “Achille Lauro” (1985);
- the “Patmos” (1989), the “Haven” (1991) and the “Erika” (1999) cases, concerning marine pollution, issues of liability and damage compensation arising therefrom; 
- the “Agip Abruzzo” (1991) case, concerning the tragic collision with the “Moby Prince” and the consequent fire;
- the “Costa Concordia” (2012) and the “Norman Atlantic” (2014), giving rise to numerous claims for compensation for damages for personal injuries by primary and secondary victims;
- the disputes concerning the “Front Comor” (2000) and the “Al Salam Boccaccio” (2006), involving, amongst other, complex issues of jurisdiction and both requiring the intervention of the national supreme courts as well as a reference for a preliminary ruling from the Court of Justice of the European Union.
